Album

The Galilean Satellites is the first studio album by American post-metal band Rosetta, released in 2005 on Translation Loss Records. The album is two discs long and the track lengths on each disc correspond to each other, indicating that the band intended the albums to be played at the same time. Disc one is in a post-metal style while disc two is ambient noise. The Galilean Satellites. This is up there with Neurosis, Isis and Cult of Luna's pinnacle albums. It's nice this download features the original second ambientnoise disk. Favorite track: Itinerant. Nick McAvoy. Album 2004 10 Songs. More By Rosetta. But, upon first listen, their two-disc 2005 debut, The Galilean Satellites, seems to add virtually nothing new to the complex cocktail of metal, hardcore, progressive rock, and ambient music equal parts abrasive rumble and atmospheric shock waves established by their inspiring predecessors. Rosetta - The Galilean Satellites review: In the shadows of post metal giants, Rosetta exemplifies all that the genre is and should be. This is energy and experimentation at its finest. Album Rating: 4. Yeah I've talked with people before who have said that they spliced the two into one disc or some such and that it really isn't the same at all. I really couldn't bring myself to listen to it without the two playing simultaneously though. TheHamburgerman February 10th 2008. The Galilean Satellites is a music studio album recording by ROSETTA ExperimentalPost MetalProgressive Rock released in 2005 on cd, lp, vinyl andor cassette. Points subtracted because the disc 1 by itself is pretty standard, though well-done, post-metal. But, I'm bumping it up to 5 because any fan of the genre really needs to check this out.
